Behind the Scenes on ‘Behind the Brush’ Series 2
The second series of ‘Behind the Brush’ is currently being filmed in various locations around New Zealand and Europe.
‘Behind the Brush’ is a documentary series airing on Maori Television that explores the work of Czech painter Gottfried Lindauer. Lindauer came to New Zealand in 1874 and famously painted portraits of the Maori people, taking particular care to represent their facial tattoos or moko accurately.
As with the first series, Series Two will feature interviews with descendants of the subjects painted by Lindauer. These interviews are being filmed around New Zealand at various locations including Napier, Pakipai, Paeroa, Whanganui, Karetu in Northland and Awa Films’ office in Miramar, Wellington.
We have exclusive behind the scenes photos of these interviews. Featured are several of our crew members including our Producer Fiona Apanui, Sound Operator Fraser Rudman, Kaumatua Hone Apanui and Director of Photography Mike Jonathan. The interview subjects include Anthony Hamilton, Turoa Hauronga, George Parekowhai and Kataraina Millen.
Series Two of ‘Behind the Brush’ is expected to be complete by October this year.
